HangOut Privacy Policy

HangOut is a simple Android app to follow your family and friends on the map and know where they hang out. You can share a link, so others can follow your trip real-time on Google Maps. HangOut can automatically send a text message when you have arrived safely at you destination. If you enable the GPS, colored dots from blue (0 km/h) through red (50 km/h) will indicate the velocity on your trip.

The type of data that HangOut collects on our server is the Android ID of your smartphone, your profile and your location. Your profile consists of the (nick)name you have entered and the photo you have selected in the profile window. Your location is stored automatically at regular intervals (1 hour, 5 minutes, 1 minute, 5 seconds), depending on your accuracy selection (pause, economic, accurate, underway).

Location information includes date, time, lattitude, longitude, accuracy, velocity and altitude. Only persons with an invitation from you can see your location on the map. An invitation is valid for an hour, a day, a week, a month, a year or forever, depending on your selection at the time of the invitation. Once an invitation expires, it can no longer be used to see your location on the map.

Your location is only stored on our server to provide the service of sharing your location with persons you invited. No location information is shared with any third party.

Your address book is only used as an easy way to enter a phone number or address to navigate towards. No contact information is stored on our server or shared with any third party.

Your location information is stored on our server with a time stamp (date, time). Based on that time stamp, your location information is automatically deleted after 1 month. If you continue to use HangOut on your smartphone, new location information will be added to our server. If you decide to remove HangOut from your smartphone, all your location information will be gone from our server after 1 month. If you want us to delete your location information immediately, please send a request to hangout@dibarto.nl.
